Really? That takes some skill. It's tough to get a V-rod up. I've been known to give wheelieing sport bikers a cheap shot to the ribs when I pass them. Had one jerk wheelie past me three times in about two miles. The third time he was way too close, so I hit his kill switch. Not sure how he saved it, but he got off the road.

This statement alone classically verifies smithr's contention about folks that choose to ride these bikes.
I think sportbikers feel like they are the REAL bikers, while the riders of big cruisers prove by their conservative style that they (we) can't or don't ride well..... And they want to show off their skills to us!!

You probably DO outride me (whatever that means) I'm 51, and didn't get that way by being reckless with my life. I may speak for others here (or just for myself) when I say to you that sportbikes, to me, represent the clearest stereotypical example of a "death wish", and people that choose to ride them seem to want to fulfill the stereotype. If not, why own one?
Since you ride both, which do you have more fun with, and which peer group better represents real life?
BTW... That's a cool springer you've got!

Awwww, don't be too hard on those kids! I was young once too. They will find that gravity eventually catches up with them and they will be too old and slow to carry on in that manner.....Eventually they will be on an H-D.....I've NEVER seen a 50+ year-old doing wheelies/stoppies on a sport-bike!!!!!

The one guy didn't even have a helmet. Too bad the cops were not around to see it. It really isn't a smart thing to do with all the Blue hairs around.

thanks for the compliment don. good question, i can't say i have more fun with either. if i had to choose, the sport bikes are more fun to ride. the harley is more fun. it really depends on my mood, whether i want to go for a ride or for a cruise. but one thing i did realize, when i get off the harley, i ride the suzuki harder because its faster and corners better., which could be bad. i also think its funny to leave a bar or restaurant on my harley, then go back by like 20 minutes later on my sportbike. i always chuckle at the dirty looks i get, if they only knew who was under the helmet. its like leading a double life sometimes

I know Oxford well. My cousin lives up on Perry Lane off of 67, and I have friends on Chestnut Tree Hill and Old Mountain Road, over by Falbo's, etc.

Been there and rode like that from 18-23. There's no stopping the need for speed and riding wheelies. Throw in the fact, that you want to look cool and what do you expect??? I've seen plenty of idiot Harley riders myself so my advice is be careful, and if you see someone hauling ass or doing stupid chit, slow down and get out of their way....then give em the bird!

I have been startled a few times by a crotch rocket flying past me in my lane doing over 100 MPH, and have felt like beating the crap out of them (if I could catch them - LOL), but most that I have taken the time to visit with are decent people, just crazy like most of us were as kids.
IMO - I'm sure that these guys are great people. I'm sure that they are young and full of energy. I know that I was once young and full of energy as well. I did some stupid things back in the day. Wheelie's, twisties, tittie twisters (haha) all have a time and a place. The time and place is NOT the streets. They can be the nicest folks off the roads but if they do these things on the streets it is simply dangerous for them and everyone around them. I hope that they live to be old someday and they can gripe about the stupid things kids do.
