for a change primary holds a quart more only if you remove the case or lean the bike to far over when drianing it.. Good products redline makes a very good lube I would not use that filter but it's your bike. Make sure you do the rest of the checks on the 1000 mile service just to be on the safe side.

ORIGINAL: smitty901 I .. Where did you glean this info from???? Good products redline makes a very good lube I would not use that filter but it's your bike. Make sure you do the rest of the checks on the 1000 mile service just to be on the safe side. If you are going to pass on technical info, please ensure that it is correct.... The Touring primary is larger than the Softail/Dyna/XL/XB primary case, and by only putting in 32 oz's and not validating the level, you decrease the amount of bathing fluid for the wet clutch assembly.... The service manual states that you install 32 oz, BUT, it also SHOWS (in a diagram) the location of the CORRECT fluid level..... Which, by the way, is the bottom of the clutch diaphram spring.... I stand corrected it is appox 38 Oz wet fill but level is buttom of basket not the springs For some reason my Fatboy never takes more than 32 but the Road glide will take about 38 Thumbnail Image

You didn't get raped. But Redline recommends 3000 miles on the engine before you use the 20w50. Look on the bottle is should state that.

You can take your "Parts" price...and add another $60.00 or so and that is about what the dealer will charge for an oil change...give or take another $20.00. So...NO...you didn't get raped. Saved yourself some dough and probably got more riding time in that they dealership didn't have your bike for a day or 2. DanB
