I would like to share this article with those that are PGR members and with those that have yet to become one. Just continues to enforce why I am a member. I hope you enjoy - http://www.cyclerides.com/WeeklyUpdate5_14_08.htm

Thanks for the link, rinja. Boy, how ironic. I just returned from a PGR Mission today. It was not an 'official' one, as the soldier who it was for (PFC. Byron Fouty of the 10th Mountain Division who was kidnapped over a year ago and has not been heard of since) so it wasn't a Welcome Home or a funeral escort but the PGR was there anyways. Not sure how I'd handle them whackos. Thank the man upstairs that I've not run into any of those azzhats, yet. But I'd probably be very tempted to slip out of my PGR 'colors' and have a few words with them, as a civie. I'd hate to stoop to their level, but sometimes you just have to do what you need to do. I truly believe there is a special place in Hell for those idiots......

In the five missions I had the honor to be a part of, they were present for two of them. The fact that they are there (or could be there) makes standing in the flag line alot easier. -Wardster

I hope the writer in the link gets a better grasp of the PGR and its' mission, and matures to the level that he really CAN be an honorable supporter of the soldier to be memorialized AND and effective shield against those who attempt to infiltrate the services with thier own disruptions. i.e. The Patriot Guard stands for the service person at the request of the soldier's immediate family. We do NOT recognize, approach, or engage a protester in ANY FASHION WHAT-SO-EVER!!! Our status at a service is to honor the Soldier and his/her Family! NO physical confrontation with anyone is acceptable. Contempt IS shown to the "protesters" by ignoring them and keeping our backs turned to them. When neccessary, and with the approval of the ride captain, funeral representative and the LEO's present, we drown out audible protesters with idling engines. We block the view of (and from) the protesters with a flag barrier. We conduct a non-violent, non-confrontational, psychological display of contempt for the protesters! And we can hope (Yes we can!!!) that the protesters will lose their cool and THAT'S when the LEO's can do THIER thing!!! That THEIR job, not ours! I'm glad the writer joined with others in supporting the soldier...but to deviate at all from that single mission is not acceptable. It is not wanted. Sorry to be a PITA, folks, but that's the way it is... It's a solemn duty, not a show. Know that God's Love is with Each of You! Jim aka kiltiemon (USN, VVA, PGR)
