Well I got the 07 Nightrain dyno tuned the other day and I still havr this damn ping under hard throttle input. By the way I have SE stage 1 air cleaner, V&H big radius pipes and a PC3. I told the the tuner that all I wanted him to do was get rid of the ping but he didn't so that. So anyway, whats next? Does anyone have any ideas? I really don't want to spend another $250 to have this thing strapped to the dyno again. Any input on this would be great..Thanks ROB

When does it Ping? Is it when you do a Hard roll on to full throttle from cruising speed?
There a couple of things you could do. Try enabling the Accelrater pump and setting it for 80-90% sensativity, 5 - 9% Fuel, 25 - 30 Revs. To much fuel and the motor will bog to little and it won't do any good.
You could also go into the Ignition table and retard the upper RPM's 3500 - 5500 by -5
Give some specifics on performance and you may get more input. keep in mind that the tuners tune for the location of the dyno, their garage, Real world usage and rider style will require fine tuning by the rider. Just be sure to save your MAP to your PC under acouple of names for back up so you can reload it if your screw up the settings. That is the cool thing about the PCIII you can always go back if you save the map. I have gone to rich and to lean just reloaded my dyno map and started over several times.

Are you using the high octane premium gas or regular? Ethanol? Lame questions, but you never know... Oh, you should use the high octane with no ethanol (I am sure you know it, but needs to be said)
I saw a funny thread once about saving money by buying the lower cost regular, an obvious point was made when it was mentioned that it only saves a few cents over premium and only buying 5 gallons at the most.

Thanks for the input everyone. TO answer some of the questions, YES when I roll on the gas at highway speeds in 5th, I'm sure it would be worse in 6th. Also heard it yesterday under hard throttle in 1st. I do run 93 octane fuel all the time, thought about trying some booster but I would rather fix the problem the right way. I haven't pulled the new map off the PC3 yet, guess I should have a look to see what the timing tables look like and what the pump feature is set at. Would cooler plugs help at all? I'll keep you all posted once I pull the map...Thanks again for the input..>ROB
Do not mess with plug temps. It is only worth changing plug temps when dealing with true high performance race engines.
Most tuners only look at the air fuel charts and never mess with timing. If you are only pinging at the top RPMs try retarding the timing a little bit. You may also want to retard the timing for WOT at lower RPMs. I Blocked out 70% - 100% and 4000rpm+ and retarded the timing 3 - 5%. I had a decent dyno done but the guy never tweaked timing at all. Temps here are over 100deg in Summer so I am just doing a preventative adjustment. I am also running leaner for fuel mileage.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Well now I'm really pissed!! Not at you guys but the dealer. I just pulled there "custom" $250 map they loaded on the bike. It's not even an advanced map, just fuel changes. Timing is all 0 except for this...2000rpms to 6000rpms is set at +4. I would think for $250 I would've got a little more than I did. I'll be making a call tomorrow to discuss.
Guys and Gals, please tell me if I'm off base with my thoughts...
