My 1980 HD service manual, specifies medium strength red Loc Tite.

For the primary compensator nut, and clutch mainshaft nut. There is no

medium red, and the manual gives no number. There are 4 reds available

now Permanent 26240 high strength 271 high temp 272

large diameter 27740. Which one do you guys use? Things probably

changed a lot in 28 years since the manual was printed.

Thanksin advance.

Humm?
I've never used any kind of lock tite on the engine or trans nuts but I sure do use an impact wrench once they are snugged up by hand.

I agree, but if I were to use one of the ones you mentined, it would be the large diameter. Perm I wouldn't use cuz you never know when you'll change a chain or replace a clutch hub. High temp is for high temps, it don't get that hot in there. High strength is for large amounts of torque settings.

Thanks for replies guys. I had a Loc Tite salesman send a reply in another group.

It was pretty interesting. I will forward it, if either of you are interested.

PS Rodney

You are doing a nice job on the FXWG, and man do you work fast.

You get more done in a 2 day weekend that I do in 2 weeks. Send pics

if you have time, I for one really enjoy them. Thanks
