Just notced the other day, when I shift up to 3rd, its seems to require a more deliberate action. Feels almost difficult. Shifting down from 3rd to 2nd, sometimes takes two attempts. The pedal seems to travel the normal distance but seems to not engage. No "click", just movement. Neutral is also getting harder to find as well. This has all started within the last week. Bike has 2200 miles on it. Changed tranny fluid about 300 miles ago to Redline Shockproof. Has been running beautifully up until now. The issues I mentioned happen only occasionally since I first noticed but never at all before. This is my first HD so I don't know really what to expect. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks,

V

First thing that comes to mind is the clutch may need adjusting and is not releasing enough. Ever notice that when it's hot , it's worse. This is because everything expands and the amount of clutch release is even less. You will see more freeplay in the handle when hot than cold. When I do mine I pull the derby and give it 1/2 turn loose on the center bolt and about 1/16" play in the handle. Actually , look at the cable end when setting the free play here as slop in the pivots of the handle will give faulse reading. It makes a huge dif on how it shifts and neutral finding. You will still see some dif between cold and hot, but it will be minimal with correct adjustments. Always adjust clutch when all components are cooled off.

Thanks very much for the reply. Sounds like the you may be onto something. Does seem worse as it gets hotter. Gotta get the dealer to adjust it, never done anything like that before.
