I have suspected a vacume leaks for some time and have done all the usual test that I know of ,carb spray, propane bottle,WD-40 spray etc. Had 2 shops take a look and both said there was no leak. Yesterday ,while tinkering, I took the air filter off (Doherty A/C) and with the bike running I stuck a tennis ball in the intake orfice of the injection module and the bike kept idleing? It's a Calif. version so I plugged the vacume canister line and it still kept running with very little RPM change. Where could it be getting air from? Shouldn't it have died instantly?03 FLHRI,95",203s,PCIII Other than a rough idle the bike runs strong.(97.92 Torque-87.49 hp)Old school mechanics says any motor should die when you cut-off it's air.I have replaced all of the induction parts including the module and injectors. Any thoughts Thanks
Thanks for the replies, new MAP gromet once and then a new sensor and gromet,no change. TB to intake gasket replaced ,even put a little sensor safe silicone on it and no change. Wierd! Bike runs so strong but idles ruff. I attribute some to the cam but seems like it still should die with the intake blocked?
gotta have 3 things to run..old school, new school, or any school
1.air
2.fuel
3.source of ignition
If you cut off any 1 of the 3 it will not run, so you are right. It is getting air from somewhere.
Suggest you plug the air supply points as you did and repeat the spray process and see what area causes an increase in RPM
