Default 50" Plus DLP

Any opinions on the new Samsung DLPs with LED light engine? Priced much less than LCDs or Plasmas.

First off... your garage is WAY too clean/organized in that pic.

The DLP's are all going to be cheaper than flat panel LCD's & Plasmas. The technology is quickly being replaced.

I have a Mitsubishi DLP and am VERY happy with the picture & overall performance. Samsung is also good, as are the Sony SXRD's.

The only thing I would caution against is Plasma - not because they are not 'good', but because they suffer from problems that LCD & DLP's do not.

- Having worked in the industry...I would suggest that if you are buying a 'big' TV, go in for the extended service plan through whatever retailer you purchase from. I have seen countless people who have a problem with their set after it's out of the manufacturer warrenty period - and find that parts to repair the set are more expensve that the TV - or that plarts are not available.

PM me if you have any other questions. I'll be glad to help.

I have a 50" Samsung DLP... AND I LOVE IT! Movies are awesome with plain ol DVD's cant wait to get the Blu-Ray player... Awwwww crap now i have to start my movie collection ALL over again!!!

No seriously... i only get HD channels from digital cable, i don't pay for them... but its AWESOME you can see the pock marks on the news guys face, and the all the makeup on the chicks! If you have kids and watch Disney animated movies... you will see "other" stuff you never noticed before... theres so much detail

DLP is the way to go. It will take up a little more room than a LCD or Plasma but well worth it. I would say go with Samsung. I'm an A/V man for a casino and maintain 58-42inch Samsung Plasmas and 22-48inch DLP's. With them running 24/7 and sucking up the most nasty dust and massive amounts ofcigaret smoke I rarely have problems with them. I've never had to do any thing to the DLP's in over two yrs, however the plasmas would some times over heat and shut off from lack of air circulation due to the fans being covered in the nasty dust.

Samsungs warranty is awsome. Their policy has a rep come out and work on it, if he cant fix it on site they send me a brand new one.

Good luck in your choice.
