I have a 53 pan, mostly stock, bigger cam, bigger valves and am thinking about putting a mag on. From what I can find on the internet I have about 3 choices. Joe Hunt, Morris Mag and Karata. For a cruiser would the technology of Morris and Karata be worth the cost over Joe Hunt? Any thoughts? This is going a fresh rebuild and kicker.

This is free advice so take it for what its worth.  Mags look really cool, and you can run batteryless, but in my experience with them there are a bunch of downsides.  Mostly, if they're not just right you can kick yourself silly trying to get the focker to start.

A few years back I switched to an EI distributor and wonder now why I waited so long.  If you decide to go Mag, I've got a couple of primo Joe Hunts for Pan/Knuckle.

Thanks for the info. This is my first pan, which I tore down to the frame and have back together for the most part and am trying to figure a few little things out. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

I had a Joe Hunt mag on my 51 pan. Never was a problem, started 2 kicks hot or cold. It''s just how you set them up. Wish I still had it..... \\;
