Default 05 Super Glide Lowering Question???

I have an 05 Super Glide and i am wanting to lower it. My stock shocks from eye to eye are 12.6". I am leaning more toward 11.5". Mainly looking for about a 1" drop. Progressive doesnt make a 412 shock in the 11.5" for my model and i dont want to spend just an arm and a leg going with the progressive 418's and up. Another option for me would be just get the Harley Low Rear Shock Kit which moves the bike down APPROXIMATELY 1".... which is what i am looking for but everyone i know that has used them it moves it about 3/4" (yea i am picky... i know your saying its only 1/4") I guess you could say i am going for a somewhat slammed look and i could always go to the 11" progressive 412's but then i would think i would get into a rubbing issue on larger bumps and so forth. HAS ANYONE GONE 11" PROGRESSIVE 412 WITH THEIR SUPERGLIDE... WHAT ABOUT RUBBING ISSUES, TIRE ISSUES, ETC.??? I noticed the wiring is on the inside of the rear fender running to the tail lights and brake like and i am worried about messing up those wires after a few good rubs.

To sum it all up has anyone gone 11" on superglide and what issues did they have and what are some other companies that make replacement shocks that i might could get an 11.5" (which is what i am really leaning towards). I see progressive all over the forum but what other good shock companies are out there??

Thanks for your help guys... i am new to this whole lowering issue.

Default RE: 05 Super Glide Lowering Question???

I bought new 04 SG, i bought pro.shocks don't remember no.but i wanted them real bad because they had chrome covers over the springs. can't really recall if they were 11"or 11.5" but i know they were too short, also as with some harleys not all fenders are centered over the tire, offset one side or the other,as was mine.about 1/4" so i had sidewall rub.the parts man then told me they were too short for my bike, even though they had been installed he let me swap them out for another set.I lost some money on the deal, but what i ended up with was progressive part no. 774036 412 series 12.0" and it lowered it enough to make it look good, hope you have good back i don't,i couldn't adjust them too my liking too stiff. my son rode it a few times two up no complaints, but i never asked. hope this might help some!!! but on slamming the front end,i went the cheap route i loosened tripple tree bolts slide forks up through them either 1/2" or1" i"am thinking 1" still had factory ride up front. It lowered bike enough that i had to lean bike to the right waay past center to get stock kick stand down, when i did the bike was sitting almost straight up.just thought i would throw that in!!!!! i have since moved on to 06 H.C.
