I am a "Wild Hog" type.

Road all the time growing up. Bought the biggest BMW they made in 1982. Road it for about 23000 miles and sold it. After 14 years of not riding and being able to afford a new Harley, the wife and I went out and bought a new 2007 FLSTC. Then not long afterward I bought a new FXSTSSE. Just bought my wife her first bike, Suzuki S40. Will buy her first HD next year and if they come out with the Screaming Eagle version on the Street Glide I've told my dealer I'd order one.

I'm now 50 the kids are grown and on they're own and now I'm spending their inheritance. The wife and I have never had such a good time.

I understand what you are trying to say.  I see a lot of them here in SoCal. They are usually middle aged folks, with money, wanting to try something new. Many husband and wife teams who seem to have taken up riding motorcycles as if they were taking up golf. In a way, I think that is great they have the heart to try something new.  The downside is, I think some of them, especially the ladies are in over their heads.  Of course I have seen women that were as good a rider as any but I have seen too many that looked like they would be lucky to make it home. I have seen then drop their bikes when parking, starting them in gear and dropping, waiting for their man to park his bike and then get on theirs to park it.  I was sitting at a stop light and a group of them approached the intersection to turn right, I looked up in time to see one middle aged lady on some kind of exotic chopper coming straight at me with her rear tire locked up.  She had approached the turn way too fast and damn near lost it. Would have taken me and my bud with her. Yeah, I was a new rider at one time also but I have been riding for 33 years and have never been down and I don't consider that just luck. Unlike golf, if you don't get good at riding pretty quick, it could get you killed. So, I wish them all the best and welcome them to the club, but I do keep a close eye on them.

1. be happy about them because they're driving the aftermarket part suppliers. We can get better & cheaper aftermarket OEM parts for our bikes now because of them.

2. if you ARE a 1%er (kind of doubt it though), consider them camoflage. you can ride into town now, walk into any store, bar, whatever, and no one bats an eye.

3. less hassles with the cops because of them. This is sort of an extension of #2.. but with all the "wild hog" types around there are a lot less hassels.

I really don't give a crap about them one way or the other... and I feel the same way about 1%ers.. as long as they stay out of my way it's all fine with me.

I love Wild Hog.  The bacon tastes better.  Yum Yum  Wild hog bacon served with a cup of hot buttered butter.  Only thing better then Wild Hog is Sausage wrapped in Wild Hog dipped it hot buttered butter.  Whos with me?  I try to stay away from the Domestic Hogs. Seems all they want you to do is cut grass and go to work. Screw that.

So,,,, in your mind,,,,,, if some guys want to get on their bikes and go on a road trip they should be stayed away from?

Oh, wait,,,,,,, I get it. Real bikers just ride from bar to bar all leathered up and acting bad azz and never go over 25 miles round trip.
Yeah stay away from anyone that actually has a bike that they ride on the road for miles and miles.

Maybe you should have paid attention to what "Damion Blade" told his son near the end of that movie.

I'll think about you and what you said in a couple of weeks when I'm out there on the road doing what us "Wild Hog" types do,,,,,,,,riding on the open road.

???????

Let's see I'm a middle aged lady that makes 1/2 of a husband and wife team while ride on vacations.  I have been riding for about 3 years (I rode in my teens though) with about 20k under my belt. By the end of the year it will be more like 25k to 27k.

I have been known to drop a bike in the parking lot.  Heck on the street at a stand still....shall we discuss guys that have the same?  When 850 lbs gets off balance it's you or it...I choose it, because I don't have the macho need to say I have never dropped my bike by holding it 2 inches off the ground and ripping up my arms or back.

Oh I park my own bike, clean my own bike, and wrench my own bike (sometimes with Hubby's help but not always).... I also commute daily on my bike.

I have locked my back tire exactly twice.....80 to 0 sudden stop on a blind curve on a freeway because traffic did a sudden stop (car next to me did not have ABS either). Once because I misjudged the stoplight.  I got ABS when I moved to a touring bike which is hi
