So I go to the Thunder on the Smokey rally in Marquette Kansas yesterday. It’s the one event that my Dad, both Brothers and I ride to every year. I have always thought about entering the bike into their bike show, but in a state with a rather low number of VRSC owners I know that I would be WAY out numbered by the air-cooled. I decided to hell with it and entered anyway. They only had four classes---Antique, American Stock, Metric Stock, and Custom [which they limited to trikes, custom framed, frame modified, triple tree modified, or extremely wide tire modified (more then 280)] They put me on the wrong side, next to all of the foreign bikes, and wanted me to enter the Metric class. “It’s American Made so I’ll be damned if I do that” I said. American Stock was the largest class I later found out though. The show was spectator voted, which makes it tougher because everyone here knows that there are quite a few that cannot get over a Harley with a radiator. Despite all of that I managed a second place behind a Screamin’ Eagle Springer Softail. Not bad I though since there obviously had to be a lot of people that voted for my bike even though it has antifreeze circulating though it.
