They work, just don't go to a 2-1 pipe. They create ECM codes.

I installed a pair of XIEDs an hour ago. Easy install. Rear is located under seat, lots of play and room to work. Front is located under voltage regulator, clipped to plastic shield with backing case on it. Plenty of room to work, and still enough room to stow the excess cable. First impressions: The bike starts a little easier/quicker, and seems to idle smoother. Sounds a little throatier, but not louder. I am using less throttle than before, so I believe it is getting more fuel. Feels smoother under acceleration. Less popping on decel, but still a little (FuelPak is still connected). Definintely running cooler. I will run them for a few days and then check my plugs to see if they are darker. They have been pretty white in the past. Then I will probably pull the FuelPak and see if there is any difference. I would rather not run it if it is not needed, someone else may be able to use it. I ordered these XIEDs on Thursday and recieved them this afternoon. (CA)

This guy seems pretty solid. I would rather wait a week than get one that was hurried. I think you will like the product. Are you running any pipes or air fuel management system now?

Ordered mine last week (XIED). They showed up yesterday. Spent most of Saturday riding back in the rain from northern michigan....so I've got some cleaning/scrubbing to do before I install these. Will let you know how they work for me. BTW, I recently added Rinehart slip-on, SE breather and had the dealer install (ya right) the download (protect me from warranty issues). I get quite a bit of popping on deceleration....at least more than I had stock. Hard to tell though as the pipes sound drastically different. XIEDs seemed like the cheapest way to richen the mixture a little. Not looking for huge performance gains, but will take them if available. From the sounds of it, I'll be happy.

I have run 2 tanks of fuel through my FXDL since installing the Xieds. My gas milage is 42.9 up from a dissapionting 37 MPG. I have SE slipons SE air cleaner, and download done by the dealer. Just thought people would be interested in that result with the high gas prices.

Does anyone know if the Xieds are okay to use with a SERT tune or with a PC3? ....and then maybe with a subsequent dyno?

Don't know why you'd need IEDs if you have a SERT...the SERT sould be able to adjust the AFR for closed loop mode for the O2 sensors, which is all the IED's do.

Interesting results Zevron. I have the same setup as you do and I had the opposite experience. Was running IED's and got 48 MPG, put in the XIED's and dropped to upper 30's. I'm selling the XIED's if anybody is interested.

After two days of running the XIEDs I decided to pull the FuelPak. I forgot how easy that thing was to install/uninstall. I test rode last night and again today and the bike is running great. I may have lost some power on hard throttle, but it is worth it to me just to simplify the system and I will sell the FuelPak. It is the same one that fits the V-Rod, so maybe someone will get some good use out of it. I will pull plugs this weekend to see how they look after about 100 miles with the XIEDs. So far I am pretty happy with this part.

Installed last night. Sputtered a bit the first time I fired it up??? Probably just being moody. Took a spin last night and this morning. Here are my first impressions: Rinehart slip-on exhaust (also have Stage 1 download and SE AC) sounded real tinny prior to XIED installation (kind of like snap, crackle, pop). AFter installation, exhaust seems deeper but not necessarily louder. If anything, I think it might have quieted some....or could be a deeper tone that isn't quite as annoying. Also, bike doesn't seem to surge anymore at low speeds. When decelerating, rpm seems to stay up more....doesn't immediately drop off as much. 6th gear seemed smoother at 55-60. Still chilly here in Michigan so I can't speak for heat/temperatures. All in all, probably not a whole lot of performance gain but sounds like a healthier engine. Still need to check the plugs and MPG. Oh, and I think it cleaned the chrome too! I had a hell of a time getting the front installed. Did you guys just coil the excess up under that plastic cover. I'm not sure I got the cover completely snapped back in place. Will take another look at it tonight. Brian

hey lakeboi,it took me a couple times to get the front the way i wanted it,i installed the reistor part of the xied in the plastic cover, then looped the ends behind the frame, and plugged the connectors in and they ended up under the oil filter, and seem out of the way.

With the FP pulled, are you still getting some popping or is it 100% eliminated? If the pops are still there, it's likely your pipes are just very open. Which leads me to ask, why remove the FP and lose HP on throttle tweaks if it changes nothing else? I suppose if the loss of HP doesn't matter to you, no big deal, but then why did you buy the FP in the first place?

Navy, With just the FuelPak installed I had some popping on decel, but never really worried about it enough to change mode (23 I think). When I installed the XIEDs on top of the FuelPak I noticed less popping (really more of a gurgle or sputter, definitely not a backfire). After removing the FuelPak (leaving the XIEDs on) it may be a little less, but I honestly don't know yet. If I get time this weekend I may pull the slip ons and re-install them to make sure there are no leaks. I do know that the bike runs smoother with the XIEDs (whether FuelPak is connected or not) and I am happy with the performance running them alone. The reason I bought the FuelPak originally was to complete a stage I (K&N 3909 and SE Street Slip Ons). All the info I had available at the time told me that I needed to install some type of fuel management to compensate, or the bike would run too lean with the improved flow through the motor. I bought and installed the FuelPak with the AC and Slip Ons, and was pleased with the improved performance. I did all three at once, so I can't tell you which had a greater effect on the bike. I don't think there is anything wrong with FuelPak, and the new info I saw referencing the different injectors on Dynas is interesting as well. I would just prefer to run as simple of a system as possible, as long as my engine is running healthy. I will try to post pictures of my plugs after I pull them, to see what guys think of the color. I received mine today, installed a Big Sucker and XiED's on my wifes FXSTC and its much better, smoother,no popping on decel at all, more power, we'll see if it really makes a difference in running cooler tomorrow. Got a Big Sucker and XiED's installed on my Super Glide as well, seems to be much better after only a short ride. More details after a longer ride tomorrow. Did the Mudpuddle AC Football mod as well, it looks great!

Its official with the XiED's my 07 FXD, Big Radius and Big Sucker run approx 50 degree's cooler that it used to. Same for my Wifes Softail Custom. Power is better and smoother and no popping on decel. Its a great product for the money and I'm very happy with my results.

This thread is somewhat useless, you can't see the improvement of the (?)iEDs because everyone seems to have a multitude of differing modifications, it would be nice to separate the different mods with the use of the(?)iEDs. Stock Stock w/slipons Stock w/slipons and A/C Stock w/pipes Stock w/pipes and A/C etc, etc, etc. I am not trying to slam the info, very much appreciated, but I think most will agree that you can't base a modification with so many variables. Also, I would like to ask if you guys are using just the Xied? Nightrider lists 3 different versions for 07/08 and 1 version for 06. XiED= 13.8 afr, O2iED=14.2afr, ViED=variable and (06) DYN OiED= ?afr, suspect it is 13.8. You're definitely going to see a difference in fuel economy between the XiED and O2iED, just wondering if this is why some are getting lower MPG than others? I will note that with my 07' sporty I saw no improvement in mpg with the SE A/C and H-D download, but I got a 10 mpg improvement when I opened up the stock exhaust, after the A/C & download. Unfortunately, I started running a little too lean with this combo so I went back to stock exhaust, I bet the X/O2iED would have cured that. And, I don't really understand why you would need to use the "Xieds" with FP, PCIII, SERT, etc., these should be able to manipulate the O2 closed loop operation, but that is a completely different topic.
