i bought a new stock replacment tire for my 06 dyna superglide and i put the tire on the rim myself.. every thing went well untill i tried to put air in it to seat the beads..i cant get it to air up to seat the beads..what am i doing wrong...thanks for any advice...

What you need to do is get the tire bead slippery so it will seat, but doNOT use oil. Try using a mix of dish soap and water and apply to both beads' a spray bottle works best, but a sponge or rag will work. If youcontinue changing your tires you may want to buy tire lube as this works much better the the soap and water did for me.

well i used a can of silicone lub. it worked fine to get the tire on the rim but i will try the soapy water in a spray bottle and see if that dont help..what do you do when you balance your tires.do you just use the stick on led weights.there were no weights on the rim before and i figure the weights would look bad on a clean looking wheel..

I use a Marc Parnes wheel balancer and the gray stick on wheel weights that come in break off 1/4 oz sections. If you want some that look better HD sales chrome looking ones that have a bar & shield (95613-04) or skull (95617-04) at $4.00 each 1/4 oz each. To spendy for me.

well i have been reading in the search area and some say you dont need to balance as long as the yello dot is lined up with the valve stem..i dont see any weights on my wheel and the tire is a factory tire on the bike when i got it new...wonder how they balance the tire from the factory...thanks for the reply

I have changed a lot of tires and have not found 1 that did not need weights added to make it balanced. my bike came with weights on the wheels so someone -factory or dealer - balanced them. Even with the dot lined up I have had to add weights to get the wheel to balance. My rear tire I put on 2 weeks ago need 1 and 1/2 ozs to balance with the dot lined up with the stem.
I tried running an unbalanced tire once and did not like how it feltas it hada noticeable vibration. I did not leave it unbalanced long enough to see if it would cause uneven or reduced tire wear.
