Road up to Ventura this weekend on highway 1, and on the way home saw a group with the lead rider on a Road Glide. He was leading the group while watching a DVD on his bike. I have to ask WHY? You are not going to impress someone that you can watch movies on your bike when you are dead. Has anyone else seen this?

That just makes no sense.  Why the hell would you want to watch a movie while on your bike?  Totally confused.

The rider is needlessly endangering his life and the life of anyone else that may have the misfortune of sharing a roadway with him.  It's stupid! It's careless and it's dangerous!  I don't see how brave makes the list.

And I'm not sure it may not also be illegal. Anyone know for sure?

Did Harley put a DVD on a bike?  Let me get this right, someone at the motor company put a DVD player on a bike and your calling that guy stupid?

WTF was the company thinking?

Do you see any DVD players available on the HD Parts & Accessories page? Go search for "DVD".

More likely, somone installed an in-dash aftermarket DVD unit.

So the more appropriate question to ask would be "WTF was the RIDER thinking?" since the moco likely had absolutely nothing to do with it.

It just goes to show that there are idiots everywhere and it is
not exclusive to cagers. You see lots of cagers reading, shaving, putting on makeup, eating, etc. You'd think riding a bike would require a little more attention.

Too bad some LEO didn't see that and pull him over to give him an "award".

I actually considered a DVD player when I was looking to replace my sterio. I thought man , if I put a chick flick in the wife would watch it and shut her mouth for a bit, Less wind resistance would equal better MPG and save money! Then I thought again, everytime she puts in a chick flick I fall asleep, that would not be pretty! Went for the regular sterio!

It was probably just a GPS unit.

I hope he's not that big a fool!

Illegal in Pennsylvania..
Can't have any DVD screen visable to the driver of a vehicle while the vehicle is in motion.  Dash DVD players are supposed to be interlocked to the transmission so the display is cutoff when the transmission is not in Park or Nuetral...

unfortunately, it can be defeated.

Why does anyone need a DVD on a bike?
What's next a portable toilet built into the seat?

Did he have 5.1 surround sound?  otherwise it would not be worth it.

actually, I agree with pumba - my first thought was that it was probably a GPS unit.

Illegal in Florida to have video screen in sight of driver, don't know if they have even thought to apply same law to bikers.  Who's thunk it??  My first thought was that it was one of those music CD video's but you seem sure of what you saw.  In that case I have to wonder why he is riding if he finds it so boring he needs to watch a movie.
