Default Ever watched your front tire?

Left Friday morning, and aftera pit stop, around 30 mphI noticed a slight wobble in the bars. At first I thought it was just the road, but when I started watching the front tire, I noticed it wasn't quite true.At that point, about 70 more miles there, and then Sunday about 275 miles back. The wobble is onlyin the 30 mph area, and just enough that you can feel it. At highway speeds it's fine, cornered and handled great, but watching the tire you can tell it isn't quite true. Can't see anything visually wrong, and now I'm wondering about the wheel itself, and if the spokes need to be checked. I do all the maintenance, but Ido plan tohave the dealercheck the wheel/spokes, as that's something I'm not gonna jack with in the garage.

Anyone else run into this type of thing with the FX models? I know the front tire on my old bike was true when watching it, but I also know that all tires aren't perfect either. BTW, there's about 3000 miles on the bike.

Also, I have to say I'm not really happy about the wear on the rear tire. Not sure it's gonnamake itfor 10,000 miles.

just ring the spokes....by that I mean tap them with a metalic object...tight ones will resonate like a string...loose ones will be a dull sound.....just get them all close and I will bet you will be good to go

Good idea, never thought of that. Makes sense.

maybe you lost some wheel balance weight(s)... maybe needs to be rebalanced.

next time you balance... take a pic... keep on file... reference for any wobblies.

I had that and it was a bad wheel bearing.

Be careful doin that. When you tighten one on one side there is another one that will change on the other side. You can make a real mess if you dont know what your doin.
Just sayin.

Default RE: Ever watched your front tire?

My bike got a horrible wobble about two weeks weeks after I first got it. After almost dying on the freeway, I got it to the dealer and they found that most of the spokes were loose front and back. I never thought to check them because the bike was less than a month old but I sure check them now : )

My front tyre is shot at 6300 miles. uneven wear, but strangely handles ok. No wobbles or loose spokes, its had it! Replacing this weekend with an avon venom am41 /21 front -avon cobra 200 rear.

Thanks for the replies. I'm planning on trying to get it in tomorrow and have the stealer check the wheel and tire. Just got my $600 from the federal stealer, so I guess it's a good time. Planning another 500 miles this weekend if the weather holds up.
