I've been reading the MANY posts on lowering one's ride, and my first option (driven solely by $$$) was to buy a set of lowering blocks, and so far, I'm not pleased.

I started on the lowest seting, and I'm botoming out far too often, so I'm gonna try the higher setting and see whats what. But I've also been reading about how the blocks can offset the shock angle, and the reviews/opinions on this vary from "it works great for me"

, to "bad, bad, bad"!!

So, in the meantime, I'm looking into new shocks, both gas and air, and the selection is damn near overwhelming

, so I'm looking towards those who have gone before me and try to take some from past experience

. The stock shocks are 13", so I've been looking at everything from 10.5" to 12.5", so those who have been there.....PLEASE speak up!

I just changed out the stock 13" shocks on my RK to 12" Progressive 412s, cost $300 doing it myself. I gained the inch I was looking for and didn't lose any comfort or performance. I've read where you can lower as much as 2" with the shocks but the service rep at the dealer steered me away from that due to possible clearance issues.

TJ Products has a lowering kit that maintains the stock shock angle. I have installed a set (1.5") on a 2001 R/K for a guy with short legs. Ride isn't compromised, but heavy loads and large bumps can cause slight bottoming out.

I'm taking it that you have Harleys shorter shocks, What i didn't realise is the shorter shockd are supposed to have higher air pressure then the stock shocks. mine used to bottom out also. Was thinking of replacing them with standard shocks, went to the dealer and got the info about higher air pressure. set mine to 40 psi and its alot better ride with no bottoming out,,
