Should the rear wheel be in the center of the swingarm on a FLHTC? Mine is off to the left by 3/8".

Nope it's Normal. Harleys little defect. As long as it tracks in line, your good to go. I know what your sayin, the belt is close, and the tire looks funny in the fender, Thats how it is. You can't correct it with spacing because it will throw everything off, the swing arm bolts to the tranny, and thats why it's like that. You'll know if its not trackin properly..

Thanks, I might hide it a bit with a mud flap and then forget all about it.

I also noticed that when I was putting a 150 tire on my 2002 fatboy. everyone said that i couldn't fit a 150 on there, I was not going to let that stop me. I made new spacers and a little mods to the brake caliper and put it on. got the tire dead center and the bike handles fine. It has been on there for 15k miles so far.

yup, this is normal.  they are all off center to the left hand side.  it does look weird, but i guess we just deal with it! haha.  we made and installed a set of wheels for a customer and he said the same thing and we ended up redoing the hubs to actually center the wheel.  he couldn't get over the fact that his wheels weren't centered when looking at it from behind and it bugged him too much. anyways, nothing to worry about.  if you look at a fatboy, the front wheel is offset to the right.  i guess it's just a HD thing...
