msrp + tax...

maybe a bit lower than msrp.

When I was in Ocala for Daytona bike week, they were selling the 883's for $5500 I think.. They were having a huge sportster sale.  I'm sure that they tacked on freight and prep to that price, but it still was a good deal.

I read your other post and saw some of the bike's you're looking at.  The one 883custom model with 900 miles seemed like a real nice deal, but I agree that if you're willing to spend 5-6g's, get a new one.  Nothing like a brand new bike.

down at destanation daytona the are selling 883's for 4,995+all the fees=6700 otd+500 to ship it to me so 7200 to my door.

i dont want to spend 6k but i will if the bike is right. i dont want to have a loan but the way things are up here with the crappy michigan economy you would think the hd dealer would cut good deals. ill have to inquire to find out.

anyone ever walked out with an 883 for 6500? to me that seems about right if they can match the 4995 deal.

I did, but that was back in 2000.

I don't consider Sales Tax as part of the "Out The Door" price, as that figure can vary greatly depending on your location.

For example;

If I run over to Worth's or Gail's HD in Missouri and purchase a bike, my 'out the door price' does not include sales tax, as I am an out of state buyer.

If I lived in Missouri I would need to pay 10% to 12% in various state and local sales taxes before the bike could leave the dealership.

Sure, when I register the bike in my home state I am charged sales tax based on the total purchase price, but I would only have to pay a much lower sales tax of around 6%.

I consider 'out the door price' to be everything except tax and registration fees, as these costs could be twice as much from one jurisdiction to another.

Go used. Buy one with a bunch of goodies already on it. Make the guy that traded (or sold) take the hit, not you.
I paid 5500 out the door for my 883 and it only had 2500 miles on it. Came with at least 1500 worth of stuff already on it.
Something to think about.

Bought a 2008 883L back in Feb.  Paid msrp + tax and regis fees etc.  / I couldn't get them to move off MSRP but was ble to get $300 dealer credit which allowed me to purchase a seat and Helmet.

you might consider used, like someone said, let them take the hit for the extra goodies.

I live in Missouri and just purchased a new sportster. You don't pay a dime in sales tax to the dealer or anybody else when you leave the dealership!!

You pay sales tax when you register your new bike. And then it is calculated based on exactly where you live. In city limits, out of city limits.
Just as for anything else, each county and city have different sales tax rates.

I live outside the city limits. So, I paid state and county sales tax. The total was less than 6%
