Default seat removal

Hello I'm a new (to me) owner of a 2001 Heritage. I am trying to figure out how to remove the seat, so that I can get to my battery. It has a Mustang seat any info would be greatly appreciated!

Look under the sides of the seat. There should be a bolt on each side holding the seat down. Take them out. If it's a solo, then it will lift up and back away from the gas tank. If it's a two-up, there's probably a screw holding the rear section down on the rear fender. Hope this helps.
