I think I agree with your friend. I think I would rather have a Bones then a Street bob. The bones is really bad A$$ andthe FL springerfront ends are sick! I think you will both be equally happy.

BTW, have you looked at used Street bobs. There are are bunch of them out there. For example you could have this one for $8K+, where the new 09 will cost about $14K-$15K
