FYI only guys and gals:

Just had the bike dyno tuned after taking out the V&H standard baffles (low restriction) and adding the quiet baffles.

Dyno showed 4 hp loss, went from 76 hp to 72 hp.

Most of the curves stayed pretty much the same.

What about the torque? If you say the curve stayed about the same then it should have lost torque as well shouldn't it have? I thought I heard some people saying that it gained torque by adding the quiet baffles.

I forgot to bring them into work today to scan...I will get that done and post them tomorrow.

What I noticed most was a more controlling power at the low end meaning, when I start off from a stop I dont have to give it a lot of gas to get going. It just seems smoother and the torque comes alive right from the start. When I was running the standard baffles I had to give it lots of gas to get it going.

Those curves are really interesting. The quiet baffles certainly appear to have given you greater torque at lower rpm.

Might be worth considering some myself for that result. Think I would probably be happy to trade a couple of HP at the high end for more torque lower down. I currently have the V&H Straightshots HS slip-ons with standard baffles.

Compare hp and tq at 3000 4000 and 5000 rpm...  Quiet baffles made higher numbers up until about 4800 rpm.

Peak torque went up from 75.09 to 76.88.  Almost 2 lbs-ft.

It was also running leaner at 3500 to 4000 rpm.  This could account for some of that added power.

One more obvious change is the noise, I love LOUD pipes  but on long rides it was deafing and installing the quiet baffles was a really nice change. Of course when you get on it, the sound seems to be just as loud. (nothing a good pair of earplugs wouldnt fix)

NA7A,
Thanks for the post.  Looks like a slight increase in hp and torque up to 4.5k, whick is probably the rpm range I use anyway.  I like my Quiet Baffles even better now.  You are dead on regarding the nice change in sound.  A friend riding behind me when I had the open baffles said he felt like he was being shot at

I guess the perfect baffle would have a butterfly which would be restrictive until 4500 rpm, then open up?

Hogsprot you just gave me an idea!!

Screw a butterfly, think exhaust nozzle, like on a fighter jet!!!
Spring loaded and self ajusting... (I'll kick myself for not getting a patent on this one  )

Chaos, that would look sick, even if it didn't help the hp / tq

Glad you like your baffles Hogsport, they did the trick for me too.

Thats a good idea, a baffle that changes restriction with RPM! Even better if it were electronically controlled by the bikes ECM. (hee hee). Full throttle stright pipes...hmmmmm.

Fully corked when leaving the neighborhood in the early AM.
