anybody got any cheaper ordering suggestions for a side mount lic plate for an 08 street bob. HD wants a ton for the part. like 189 or something

i went to the hardware store and got an angle bracket like you use to hold up shelves, then cut a piece of alum to fit behind the plate, got a chrome trim ring, mount it on the middle support on the swing arm for my belt guard... then bolted it all togehter, from there i just powder coated the whole thng black... looks great! cost me 5 bucks

These things are pathetically easy to make if you can cut,drill or bend metal you can make your own.My current design is a piece of bed frame angle iron cut to the length of the plate with three holes drilled in it.Two on one side for the plate one on the other for the bolt to hold it to the belt guard mounting point.Here..

I painted the back of the plate black so you don't notice there's no backing plate but one could easily be fabricated if you insist.

What are you running for a tail light? Are your read directionals converted, and if so, how do you do that? Thanks.

I kinda got a head start on that, the dealer had the turn signal tail light thing on there when I bought the bike.I fit inside the tail light, I took it out and put it under the seat and ran the wires from there behind the frame rails.I believe it's a kit from Harley that comes with the red turn signal lenses.

Look on Ebay guys who have shops make them in the $ 35-45 and up range. Kuryakyn makes them for $125 but why bother? I got a Ebay special on mine ...with no tag light and it looks great. Side mount and dynas go together nicely!
