Default Clutch adjustment 83 FXSB belt, belt

Hi new to this fourm and looking for some help. my scooter is a 83 FXSB love this bike but my clutch needs help. The clutch doesn't engauge until the lever is almost compleatly released the cable adjuster is screwed all the way in and there is no free play in the cable the clutch leveris tight. From the book it says check the measurment on clutch armto starter should be 13/16 of an inch. But where on the arm do you take this measurement where the cable hooks to the arm or on the other sidewhere the arm goes into the transmission? The bike shifts OK into all gears and nutral is easy to find. I am not a mechanic but if the clutch was woren out wouldn't the cable be adjusted all the way out to take up slack as the clutch wears and be able to adjust some free play on the clutch lever. Thanks for any help or ideas on how to fix this problem. Ole

How long has it been like this? Did you just buy this m/c? Did some one just install a clutch cable? Does the clutch slip under power?

When I put my shovel together I had the same issue, I readjusted the push rod, and cable adjustment until I got it where I liked it. It took a little fussing to get it where I liked it but still doesn't work as well as my 02 Deuce
Make sure you have clearance in the push rod and cable.
BTW Welcome to the HDForum.
