most touring bikes trans oil is checked with the bike held uprite. I just rest the dipstick on the housing and fill it to the full mark on the stick . by doing it that way you might add a few more ounces then screwing it in, but that won't hurt any thing. my ultra holds 24 ozs but if yours is a six speed ,that might be right.

The Cruise Drive transmission is checked on the side-stand....

Also, it only requires 32 oz.....

+1, and the trans dipstick rests on the threads, not screwed in.

Just did my 5k oil changes and have a 6 speed trans. It hold 32oz. and yes rest dip stick on the thread to check. but with it holding 32oz and a quart is 32oz. If trans is completely drained you can't go wrong by pouring in a quart and be at the proper level.

I could have sworn the manual on the '08 Ultra said to screw the dipstick in then pull out and check.&nbsp\\; I will double check that.... thanks for the info.
