Default Transmission fluid question

Need some advice here. I was just changing out my engine oil & trans fluid in my bike with Redline products. Right after filling the tranny with fluid I noticed that the stuff I'd just poured in was V-Twin primary drive gear oil (SAE 70W80). The shop maual calls for H-D Sport Trans fluid (SAE 80W90).

Is this a problem? Should I drain that new (not to mentionexpensive) Redline out & swap in the correct H-D fluid?

Hate to waste what I put in but I don't want to waste a tranny either.

I know the oil is expensive, but have you priced what it costs to rebulid the tranny? If it was the cooler part of the year it might be worth chancing but it's getting HOT out. Just my .02.

Mobil-1 75-90 Gear Oil is a better choice as a replacement. Just under $10/qt at Autozone.

By the way, SAE Engine Oil and SAE Gear Oil are measured on different scales. 20w-50 engine oil is approx. the same "weight" as a 75-90 Gear oil but they contain different additive packages.

The weights are fairly close. I'm just wondering if there"s really any difference between "gear oil" & "Sport Trans fluid".
