Default What scope for a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag?

With my eyes not being what they used to be, I'm thinking about mounting a pistol scope on my Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag.

One thing I know is that it will have to be able to withstand the recoil. Is there a "red-dot" scope that can handle the recoil?

Have any of you guys already done this?

Any ideas, recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm going to the gun shop today, just to look and ask questions, but I figured I'd ask here, first.

I run an Aimpoint on one of my7.5" Redhawks, and a 2X pistol scope from Leuopold on my 9.5" Redhawk.....the Aimpoint 44 is used for walking up trophy pigs, and the 2X is used for ground blind and certain open clearing-type situations.

I bought me a Millett Compact Red Dot Sight 1" Tube 1x 3 MOA Dot Matte (part # 459296) from Midway for about $75.
5 yr warrantee and good reviews.

The Weaver mount is part # 359216, it fits the Ruger SBH - about $35.

We'll see.

I've seen red dots in .50 IMI DE, I think the recoil will not be an issue on a .44 six shooter,

Good luck,

Mimo.

For long range shooting I use a Leupold 2.5 X 8 on my Smith 629, nice sight picture and great optics. For bowling pins and quick target acquisition I have used the Leupold Gilmore LG35 red dot with three mounting rings (when I only used two I did have one scopefailure) my shooting buddies are currently using a Burris speed Dot, Millett and a red dot from Cabellas with no issues. Stay away from the newer Tascos, they have a 100% failure rate on our 44s,most in as little as 200 rounds. The Bushnell Holosight also seems to be very reliable.
