Fram filters are crap. Paper element, cardboard end caps, crappy ADBV. A HD 5 micron filter with synthetic media is only about $2 more. The Fram filtration level is no good if you have a TC engine. If you want an automotive replacment filter get a Wix Napa Gold. Put a Fram next to a HD filter or a Wix and you will see the difference.

I won't use Fram, but do use a quality filter. Just wanted to throw something out for thoughts. Filterable contaminants come from three sources: ingested through the intake system, deposited during the oil change process, and wear. If (big if here) we were using adequate air filtration, and clean change habits, a clean burning engine AND used a quality oil that significantly reduced wear, would we have to be so concerned about the filter?
Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Since I went with amsoil I elected to go with their filter as well. personal choice since I've used amsoil ever since I started working on engines.

Filter quality & designis very important on a TC or Evo engine. You need to pay close attention to how much oil pressure restriction and bypass pressure rating you get from any filter you use. Plus HD says they want 5 micron filtration with theTC engine so why go against that to save a few dollars? Likewise the EVO motors need a less restrictive filter to ensure proper oil flow to the engine top end.So for the few dollars you might save why take the chance you might create a very expensive and unwanted problem? JMHO.

I won't use Fram, but do use a quality filter: was my first statement. I use Wix, but might change if something better comes along. I don't cut corners on oil or filters, never will. For me, I'm at a time in my life where I want what I have to last. Don't do that by saving 50 cents on filters. I just threw that out for thoughts.
