Help changing Primary Oil (HELP Please)

Hello, I just changed my Engine Oil. I did it in less than 20 min. Piece of cake. (
2008 HD Sportster Nightster.)

Now,The primary oil is what is confusing, Do I add the oil from:

1) The Clutch INspecion Cover
OR
2) The Primary Chain Inspection Cover?

Also, is the Primary Oil the same as the Transmission Oil? Maning that if you change the primary Oil you dont have to change the Transmission oil? They are both the same? I am confused. If not the same then How do I change the Transmission Oil?

Thanks a lot. I just dont want to pay $400 to my HD stealership.

Guess with all the $$$$ that you saved, you could have invested in the Service manual..

The Primary and Trans share the same fluid.... it is easiest to fill through the Primary chain inspection window, as you need to view the correct level at the derby cover.... capacity is 1 qt....

Another advantage to having the Service manual, is it will give you the correct specs, ie. Proper primary chain deflection, correct Clutch adjustment procedure, steering stem adjustment, and all of the required torque specs.....
