I hope someone can help. I'm wanting to do a different look on my 05 standard and I want to put a new set of bare metal tins on and just clear coat them to protect the metal. Does anyone know if that would work or is more than clearcoat needed? Thank's in advance. Michael

Primers have a special formulation to help paint stick to metal. I wouldn't recommend that you try it, but maybe someone knows of a clear coat that will stick to bare metal.

I would recommend powder coating them with clear.

Harley has a bare metal look on some of the new bikes. Looks like grinder marks under a clear coat or something. Does anyone know what they do?
