RE: need help keep cracking inner primary ,how do align properly
thanks i got the email so you always loosen the motor and tranny ?last time i only loosened the tranny ,i bolted inner up to motor and with tranny loose i bolted up inner to tranny then titghtened tranny bolts this wrong way? also i need a diagram of how or what sequence the bolts get reinstalled and what torque they should be ?i get primmary back tomorrow thanks again wish i would of found this site long ago
RE: need help keep cracking inner primary ,how do align properly
you should loosen the engine always, that way you make sure everything pulls into alignment, with just loosening the tranny you are forcing it to match the engine instead of the two of them finding a middle point.
the torque sequence should similar to this
1 5 7 3
2 6 8 4
makes sure you pull all the bolts snug before beginning the torques sequence, the final toruque is 35ft/lb if I remember correctly.

RE: need help keep cracking inner primary ,how do align properly
thanks again so with motor and tranny loose snug up primary then carfully undo and take off primary then tighten tranny and motor bolts then reinstall and i should be good to go ?just a summary so i can sleep on it thanks again !
RE: need help keep cracking inner primary ,how do align properly
yup, just make sure to check and make sure you dont have any gaps between the engine and frame when you snug the primary. Also do not for get to loosen the top motor mount. if everything looks good then remove the inner, torque the engine/tranny bolts and make sure the inner slides on and off without any major binding, if all check out there reassemble and ride the wheels off of it.
sorry for the slow reply, i just got home from work  \\;

thanks iam going out to try and put togeather what torque should engine and tranny bolts be ? also does it matter that the belt drive is still tenshioned up ?tranny should still move i wpould think side to side?
RE: need help keep cracking inner primary ,how do align properly
You might loosen the belt, just to be sure it is not pulling anything around. As for the engine bolt torque, my mind is blank, I know it, just cant remember it right now[:@]

Mikevel, How did you make out with welding the inner primary? \\; I found this same issue this weekend, I'm hoping I can have it welded but I'm wondering how it will hold up?
 \\;
Low_SG_rider, Could you e-mail (Ntotman@comcast.net) me the procedure to align the motor and tranny? \\; I'm \\;wondering if my engine/tranny are not aligned right, causing the \\;inner primary to crack?
 \\;
Thanks \\;for the help \\;
