Default Wide Glide front end

Someone must have been there and done that. Hi just me with just some more dum ass questions. I like the looks of the wide glide front end and would like to put it on my 83 low Rider FXSB maybe 2" over stock. Trouble is I don't know what works and what doesn't and I have a limited budget, Ya I know just buy a wide glide bike. ButThat wouldn't be any fun now would it? and besides if I did have a wide glide I probably would want a narrow glide on it you get my drift. So I would like your opinions on how to get herdone. If you all were my neighbors I would owe cases and cases of beer and would gladly give it. Thanks for the help Ole

Default RE: Wide Glide front end

There are a number of aftermarket companies selling wide glide front ends. I think Jireh has some for around $500. I imagine other companies have 'em for about the same. Have you checked Eastern Performance they have a link here on this forum? Iron Eagle (formerly in San Dimas, CA...now in the state of Washington) can probably get what you want...they carry Custom Chrome and Drag Specialties stuff as well as other catalog offerings.
I just had a brief conversation with a guy on here, cj_slowdown, about fork tubes...whatever hydraulic front end you get, the best tubes are the hard chromed ones...they show less wear than the show chrome fork tubes in the long run.
Of course, there is alway swap meets and the craigslist/eBay thing too.
Look at some of your buds bikes with wide glides to find out about what length you might want or talk to some indy shop owners for suggestions about lengthand the best year front end to get.
I am running a bone stock 2003 FXSTI wide glide front end on my 1979 FX frame(which hasabout 2 inches of stretch) and my lower frame rails are parallel to the ground.
