Default compu-fire question

just got a compu-fire set up just wondering on the sporty(mines a 72)&nbsp\\;because of the cover bolts being vertical. the modual mounts horizonal. the directions show it mounted vertical im guessing for a big twin. does it matter how it goes in right side up our upsidedown(the writeing on the unit) and also how close is the stadic timeing with the magnent. mine is mounted upsidedown for now and turned very close to all the way clockwise in the mounting slots cant get the bike to fire at all but im getting spark.just wondering if my timeing is way off.

It might be that you have ignition that fits on evo, bolts in evo are 90ΒΊ different pattern.

Default RE: compu-fire question

There should be a "V" notch in the back plate of the compu-fire ignition module. This should line up with the adjusting slot in the timing housing (on mine its upper left side) When lined up the slots should line up with mounting holes. The module wont be top up but will be turned on its side with the top facing the front I believe. At least thasts the way my 79 is installed. You can mount it 180 degrees out if you dont look at the "V" notch.
