Default 1991 FXRS Primary Lube???

Hello -

Looking for advice from FXR owners out there.&nbsp\\; I've been adding only (1) quart of primary fluid on my service jobs.&nbsp\\; Just read in the manual last night that you're supposed to put in 38-44 oz.

That's quite a bit more than I've been adding....................although I've never had any problems adding only a quart (32 oz.)

Is there some reason a FXR would require more primary fluid than any other EVO?

Thanks -

My indy told me to fill it til it touches the bottom of the clutch when the bike is upright. The oil will splash around and keep everything lubed. If you put more than that in the lube will splash around harder and force itself out of the seals. Too much oil also makes the clutch grab when it's pulled in. If you have a leak you may want to add a little more so that you don't run out.&nbsp\\;

&nbsp\\;Just changed mine Saturday, the head mechanic at my local dealer&nbsp\\;(43 years of Harley wrenching) said one quart is all they need.
&nbsp\\;My manual shows the full line on the clutch pack, and one quart took it right to the mark.
&nbsp\\;The only variation I can think of, is an aftermarket outer primary cover may be of different dimentions than stock (a little deeper), thus calling for a little more fluid to reach that "full mark"
