Default BBQ Joint

Just out of curiosity have any of you Texas folks ever heard of Dickeys BBQ. Started around Dallas in the 40's I read on thier website. Anyways, they are building one about a mile from my house here in Snellville GA, and was wondering if it is any good. Thanks for any opinions.

It's "fast food" BBQ, not great, but OK in a pinch.
They do have great sweet tea though.

I would say there is better in Texas, but its OK.
&nbsp\\;
I'm here in Kansas City ( working) and I keep my Texan mouth shut about Bar B Q.
&nbsp\\;
These folks think good Bar B Q has a gallon of sauce on it. They rave about it. They love to take the Texan ( me) out to lunch for more great BBQ.
&nbsp\\;
I have to search for the meat.
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
I come from central Texas wher the Bar B Q does have a sauce on it.
&nbsp\\;
It gets its flavor from being slow cooked over mesquite wood.
&nbsp\\;
For me thats a measure of good BBQ. It taste great straight out of the poit.
&nbsp\\;
Is it good without the sauce?
&nbsp\\;
Can you order it without the sauce? Or does the waiter /waitress look startled when you ask\\; " Can I get that with no sauce"?
&nbsp\\;
Just my 2 cents.
&nbsp\\;

How good any BBQ is depends on the Pit Master.&nbsp\\; If it comes on a plate or with sauce (unless you ask for it) its not real TX BBQ.&nbsp\\; Real TX BBQ is wraped in butcher paper and comes with a few slices of bread.&nbsp\\; Pickles, onions, beans, and suace are all optional.

Sounds like you have eaten at Southside Market in Elgin a few times.
&nbsp\\;
I sure miss the BBQ joints in Central Texas.&nbsp\\; Here on the coast, it's all about the seafood.

I was close last week.

Had a very good meal at Smitty's in Lockhart and then almost made myself sick on a couple of days of eating sausage and brisket from City Market in Luling. Was there visiting family and attending the annual Watermelon Thump.

Ate so much at City Market that went by Cooper's in Llano on the way home and decided not to stop.

However... All this talk of bar-b-que is getting me hungry... Guess I'd better start planning lunch!
