Over a year ago, after my 883-1250 conversion, the bike ran amazingly... then all of a sudden after taking a 500 mile trip, she started mis-firing and back-firing on the rear jug until it gets hot..
I replaced,
The coil with a new SE coil,
wires with SE wires,
ignition module, with an SE ignition module,
new plugs (Several times even though they are a nice tan)
new battery, all contacts cleaned, double checked and dielectric grease in all connections.
cleaned the carb twice (complete teardown, yes its been re-jetted)
all vacuum lines have been replaced
no intake, exhaust leaks
Then I went nuts and replaced the gas tank, fender, a/c, shots, grips, etc...
for a week of commuter driving (25miles) a day it ran perfect...
Now we are back to the misfire, backfire, running on front jug only bull****. \\;
I search this board and I see this problem all over it....WITH NO POSTED SOLUTIONS!!! \\; What good is this place if you post a question, someone posts an idea as to what the problem might be and you never confirm it fixed the problem?!? \\;
So, this is going to my indy tomorrow to check compression, and other diagnostics that I may have missed, for all of you that have had this problem and not found a solution, stay tuned. I will have an answer to this thread!

2001, started as an 883C and is now a 1250. \\; It's goin in tomorrow. I just confirmed with my indie. \\; I am upbeat, he was pretty excited to see the bike and get a chance to help me out. \\; He is as curious as I am. \\; One of the other reasons I don't do stealers... \\; Half of those guys are ho-hum about doing anything for you let alone even seeing your bike.

I think it's normal for them to do that sometimes until it's hot. But I have not seen them do it more then one or maybe 2 times until it's hot. If I let my bike warm up it never dose it, and thats what I do most of the time.
On my last bike 2000 1200 it did that a lot more and some of it was from the rear pipe. I put in a larger pilot and that fixed it. I will be looking for the out come... Good luck.

Well I just got word from the idie...
 \\;
Intake Manifold Gasket had a small leak. \\; Not the rubber one.. \\; Compression is over 175lbs per jug...
 \\;
Funny story, when I called, the idies wife answered the phone. \\; When I asked her about the bike she says "Chris just looked over the bike and found that it is an intake VALVE seal".
 \\;
THUD....As I hit the floor... \\; WHAT?!??! \\; She says hold on...I will let him explain... Needless to say, his answer was completely different.. \\; Intake \\;MANIFOLD seal. \\; Big difference between a piece of gasket and a head job!!
 \\;
I told him his wife owes me one.. \\; \\; Anyway... it was good for a laugh. \\; PHEW. \\; Bike back tomorrow... and boy to I have some things in the works!!!
