i have just bought a 2008 night rod special and am in the process of breaking it in what is the average rpms for 70mphs during the breakin period thanks

I went by the owner's manual recommedations (page 76) when breaking in my VRSCDX. \\; It doesn't mention anything abut 70 mph. It says "Up to 500 mile, vary the engine speed and avoid operating at any steady engine speed for long periods. Engine speeds up to 7000 RPM in any gear is permissible."
...most of us beat the hell out of it from day one and have been better off than those who babied it and never set the rings, e&\\;... vary the RPMs, engine break allot, don't lug it.

I think 70mph in 5th is only around 4150 rpm. 7,000 rpm in 5th should be about 108mph. Might be just a tad faster than you want to be going when breaking in the bike, unless you happen to live near the autobahn.
