Default Rear Wheel Off Center

Something I learned
&nbsp\\;
My bike was in an accident a couple of years ago and I noticed to bikes rear tire was off center to the left by a good bit (1/2 inch or more)&nbsp\\; I researched and found that this is really not uncommon.&nbsp\\; I remembered the bike being off some before the accident so I didn't worry about it.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
I did allign the bike as best I could by following the directions in the service manual.&nbsp\\; Loosening the mounts in 3 locations turning over the engine and most of the things stated in the process.
&nbsp\\;
one of the things it said was something like if you have to turn the top mount more than 5 turns go see the dealer and yoou should adjust it so the bolt drops strait in.
&nbsp\\;
I noticed the engine has the swing arm connected to it and the rear mouont of course connects the engine to the frame.&nbsp\\; After this realization I figured adjusting the top brace would move the rear wheel as I needed it.&nbsp\\; It worked.&nbsp\\; I loosened all the mounts and tightened the top mount and then pryed the engine over to meet the new location.&nbsp\\; Now the rear wheel is centered in the fender as it should be.
&nbsp\\;
notes
the bike roled strait before and after this adjustment.
the rear tire developed a shoulder after 1-2 thousand miles. (adjustment should fix this)
sometimes you have to use your head and ignore the service manual.
&nbsp\\;
Hope this helps someone......
&nbsp\\;
