I need some advice for a new tat. I want to put an american flag blowing in the wind on my upper arm. \\; This would be in the background. \\; In the foreground would be the POW/MIA logo over it. \\; I need to know if this would be tolerated by vets or would I be chastised. \\; I'm 38 years old, regretfully have not served my country, \\; and obviously not been to nam. \\; My father served in the air force @ cameron bay. \\; he does not talk about the service. \\; So would this make me look like a retard or something else. \\; feed back would be helpful
 \\;
thanks lumpy

No vet should get mad about that you are just showing your support and that you care any vet should be proud and shake your hand for doing it.I my self have done 2 tours to Afganistan and dame near died on my last one when i got blown up by a suiced bomber and had 4 friends die and 15 more injured,So in my eyes I take my hate off to you for wanting to do it.

the pow flag is not just for nam. its for all wars.it would look bad a##. post pics, i have a waving flag with army across it and get a lot of compliments.[sm=usa.gif]and who cares if you havent served your loss,(just kiddin)your a patriotic person. good for you.
I agree with the rest, any Vet would be glad that you care. The only time I have seen Vets get pissed is when you state opinions about them or where they served and were not there yourself.

Got no time to for spreadin roots, The time has come to be gone. And to our health we drank a thousand times, Its time to ramble on.... L.Zep!!!
Hello Lumpy,
 \\;I had a few things that you might consider being the wife of a \\; xmarine.
 \\;When you are military it becomes so ingrained in \\;you that you become a very close botherhood. \\;
This might have something to do with why your Dad does not talk about it. \\;The reason I even looked here was that I was just got \\;inked and \\;my husband was too. He had the marine emblem with sempi fi under it \\;inked on the shoulder. \\; Whenever a service \\;man sees it (no matter what service)they can not help but discuss the time and place. \\; This might be the issue you run into unless you have " in rememberence " on there too. \\; Please don't think i am shutting yu down because the ink statement say's alot... it is just a very permanent statement and some take it \\;very personal.
 \\;
I have a patch that \\;I wear on my vest &\\; my husband wears it too..
 \\;
 \\;
 \\; "USMC NEVER RETIRED " \\; \\;then the emblem " \\;ALWAYS A MARINE"
 \\;
ps. \\; My ink was the H D \\;logo they have on all the clothing with the eagle &\\; an \\;american legend banner underneath
 \\; but inside the shield \\; \\;I had them put a chrome multicolored HD it's about seven by five
 \\; inches \\; the artist was amazing and it took 2 hours on \\;the first time ever. \\; Make sure \\;you research the artist too. \\; \\;I had mine put in a more personal spot because my husband does love to ride his harley. \\; \\;
I don't feel that anyone, retired or currently serving would take offense. I am currently serving in the Air Force. You want 2 symols to be inked onto your body, 1. the American flag and 2. POW/MIA. Every American should feel such patriotism that they would want OUR American flag permanantly etched into their body. And as far as the POW/MIA symbol, I see that as a message that we will never forget those who served and are still serving whom aren't accounted for that we will never forget and will make every attempt to bring home. IT's not a military symbol, although created by the military, it's an American symbol, where it with pride.
My two cents...
