Default how about AERO SHELL OIL?

bACK IN 1983 WHEN I RODE&nbsp\\; MY 1000 CC SPORTSTER, I worked with a old man that rode a 1960 something moto-guzi, he said he used nothing but&nbsp\\; aero shell air-cooled oil. to which I &nbsp\\;tried &amp\\; it made that sportster run quieter &amp\\; and felt like it had more&nbsp\\; power. never saw any ill effects after 70,000 miles. now i have 2008 EG ULTRA. mighty fine RIDE that just got 500 miles &amp\\; I need to rejuice the vitals. (AERO-SHELL is a aviation type oil). to which everyone has a opinion, to which i can't decide which way to go, mobil or amsoil, aero-shell, or purple. any thoughts?

Default RE: how about AERO SHELL OIL?

You will probably do some real severe damage to your engine usine AERO oil in it. Aircraft piston engines are such that they use an oil that has almost no anti-wear additives in it that could cause a spark plug to foul. Fouled spark plugs in an airplane could be a fatal event. So, no IMO you should not use any brand AERO engine oil in your scoot. The difference in engines form 1960 &amp\\; 1983 to now is huge. Your engine probebly did have more power because the aero oil was causing less resistance in the internal engine parts.

I would pass on the aviation oil in the Harley.....
&nbsp\\;
However, the wrong oil is better than NO oil. In an emergency event and for some reason....aviation oil was the ONLY available oil, then I would use it because it sure beats walking.
&nbsp\\;
Emergency use only

AV oils have a piss poor additive package by design. KBFXDLI pretty much nailed it.
