Default '07 Heritage - connect 12v aux. pwr socket?

Want&nbsp\\;to connect 12v aux. power socket (cig. lighter) &nbsp\\;for cellphone charging on my '07 Heritage Classic. Ideally would like to be able to connect to my Battery Tender lead. I purchased the appropriate cord (connector to the BT cord) and so far have connected to two (2) different sockets - one purchased via H-D dealer (who also sold me a lower amp fuse) and another cheap auto (Bell) 12v socket yesterday.&nbsp\\; I use a Motorola RAZR V3 cell.&nbsp\\; The cell phone charger did not work (possibly too short?) with the first socket, although the lighter did work.&nbsp\\; When I connected the charger to the 2nd (Bell) socket yesterday it blew the circuit in the phone charger. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated...Sturgis is coming and I'd like&nbsp\\;to be able to stay in touch on the road...Thanks

Did you check the polarity?
The + should be the center pin.
The - should be the outer shell.

Duh...[&o]&nbsp\\; I was positive I had double checked the polarity when I spliced in the battery tender lead to the wiring harness I made for the aux. outlet...so much for being positive!&nbsp\\; I unwrapped the wiring today and discovered I inadvertently had + to - ... I decided to take your advise and check before going on.&nbsp\\; Sage advise, right on.&nbsp\\; Thanks

you know wallmart sells a cigerette lighter plug( aux 12v power port) with an&nbsp\\;SAE plug already made. its made my electro-tek. cost like 3 bucks. I use one connected to my tender plug to charge a motorola cell phone. I think the plug was in the trailer section or auto electronics. its made to plug into the trailer connector.
