My office is now moving 30 miles away and I will start riding on the freeway. I have to wear "office appropriate" clothing so now I need some ideas on what I could wear. I was think of something I could just wear over my slacks, easy on and off. Was thinking my rain suit bottoms but the heat here in Texas may get to me. Are there any light weight over pants or chaps out there? Any ideas?
I ride to work year round. \\; I wear traditional "business casual"...dockers, shirt..no suit/tie. \\; Whatever i work in, is what i ride in. If you do have a suit/tie. Put the jacket in your saddlebag/tourpack and wear a lightweigh jacket to ride. This is not a real hard question to answer...you are going to work, not to a bar. \\; Unless you think you may not "look" the part on your daily ride.
Depends on how much you want to spend and how much protection you want.
 \\;
Top of the line would be something from Aerostich - their suits are crash-rated, armored, waterproof, etc. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
 \\;
If you just want something to keep the dirt and bugs off your work clothes, why not get a military flight suit? Find them used at an Army-Navy store, or look at flightsuits.com if you want new (and in colors besides green).

Ok, not year round for me, but three seasons of the year. \\; I also wear business casual, I always have a zip up sweatshirt and leather in my bag for cooler weather, it goes right on over my work clothes, just like it does with jeans and a t-shirt. \\; Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the problem unless it's an insecure "how do I look" thing? \\; If it rains, put on a rain suit. \\; Lucky for you they are moving, more riding that way.
My office is business casual, so I wear jeans and carry my casual pants in my Kury GranTour pack. When it's chilly I wear layers over the shirt I wear at the office. Pretty simple.
I wear Firstgear overpants. They are lightweight but still armored (I even upgraded the armor for more protection). I'm not sure how much heat you get around your parts though. I wear shorts to work, so the overpants go great for crash protection. I do know that you can get mesh overpants, but I imagine you can kiss any rain protection goodbye with those.
If you don't mind having Textile pants, they only cost like $120. Being able to wear my shorts to work, have some decent (though not downpour) rain protection, and definitely a bunch of crash protection is well worth that money to me.
Can you change when you get to work? I carry my work clothes with me and change here. A light over pant, nylon etc. would work to keep the road dirt off of expensive slacks. Not really that hot when you are on the freeway. it is when you are stopped that you really get feeling the heat.
