It's a matter of public safety, so it is entirely appropriate for the government to write a law to address a problem.&nbsp\\; "Nanny State" laws protect idiots from the harm they would do to themselves\\; one of the best examples is the number of "transfat" bans many cities have enacted against restaurants.&nbsp\\; Cellphone-wielding drivers are a real, tangible danger to other drivers and especially bikers.&nbsp\\; This is a good law.

Good post and right on. However, the more laws we get the more complicated it gets. Suppose you eat gobs of trans fat,&nbsp\\;ruin your health and I have to pay for that through welfare or medicare/medicaid or whatever. So now I have a right to tell you what to eat? If we get universal health care (yuck) then I have even more control over you?
