I'm hoping to get some informed opinions on the normal oil consumption per 1000 miles is for a '94 EVO when it's ridden conservatively. \\; Cruising at 60 MPH or so and riding around town generally never exceecing about 3000 RPM.
 \\;
Thanks in advance,
 \\;

Hey 94,
 \\;
Thanks. \\; I didn't think they should use much, if any.
 \\;
Come on &\\; chime in you other EVO owners. \\; Ya know ya want to!
 \\;
Thanks again in advance for any and all responses and ya'll have a great summer!

I just got my bike and changed the oil the other day. \\; I'll let you know what it uses. \\; Guess this means I have to go out and ride it a bunch so I can properly answer your question. \\; Thanks for the excuse!

Typically an Evo will use less than a pint between oil changes assuming that's 3000 - 4000 miles. So if you have to add a quart in less than 3500 miles - time to do the top end.
Yeah, if the engine's in good shape, no more than a pint or so in 3000 miles. \\;\\\\\\; If you take a long trip on a really hot day, any air cooled engine could use a little oil. \\;\\\\\\; After 130K+ miles, mine still doesn't use any noticeable amount between changes. \\;\\\\\\; However, I did get new rings when the base gaskets failed. \\;\\\\\\; No honing or anything, though.
Wow. \\; I was able to post. \\; That's always a surprise.

Here's what I've noticed on mine since I've had it..
Mine has 40k on it, about 30k on 9.5:1 pistons and an SE11 cam. I had to add a quart at about 4k after my last oil change, I went 5k on the oil change \\;this time. No noticable smoke, runs great, but \\;it does dribble some oil \\;out \\;the crankcase breather. \\;A good bit of my riding is at 80mph.  \\;

***No, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.......***
I have 40k on mine and it has used a quart in 3000 miles since i have owned it. I bought it with 6500 miles on it. My 92 with breather holes in the heads will suck out the oil through the holes in hot and hi speed riding. As noted by oil dripping from my hypercharger. I just put rocker gaskets on it and installed umbrella valves it there even though it is not a top breather and my consumption has dropped down to about a pint in 3k miles. As stated above if i'm cruising interstate at 75-80 it will use some more oil along with the alabama heat. Kent

92 Fatboy, setup just the way i like it.
Well, I bought my bike new. \\; For the first 54,320 miles in 11 years, it used about a quart every 1500 miles, especially if you pushed it hard. \\; By this time the base gaskets started seeping a little, so I fixed them and put in some Hastings rings and had the jugs dingle-ball honed at the dealer. \\; After that, I would say I might have use a pint in 3K miles, if that. \\; Now, with about 75K miles and another 11 years and some abuse (I don't ride as much as I used to), the last couple of trips pushing hard on the highway, I'm probably using a quart every 1K-1500 miles again. \\; There's no smoke and the spark plugs look good. \\; I know there is some scoring on the cylinders, but I'm not worried about it. \\;
