Default fuel additive?

Hey Friends - Quick question, what is a good fuel additive to run in my 1986 883? Or should I advoid them all together? I recently bought the bike and it has 14000 miles on it and was hardly ever drove since bought brand tonight. Less than 650 miles per year. Every now and again it will kinda surge if I am not giving it much throttle. I thought maybe the carb could use some cleaning. Also I run the highest octane gas (93). Thanks in advance!!

I think the directions say 1 ounce per gallon, so I put 4 ounces in my 4.5 gallon tank.&nbsp\\;

I believe you only need to use 87 octane on that '86 883.....I know when my '00 was an 883 that I only needed 87.
