Default oil tank question

i have a 42 knuck that is in a swing arm frame. i plan on putting it back in a riged frame this winter. catalogs (vtwin, jp) show a different oil tank from a riged to a swing arm frame but i can't tell what the phisical difference is. of course i don't want to purchase another tank if all i need to do is weld on a bracket or&nbsp\\;make some minor modification. i think it has something to do with battery hold downs, but i'm not exactly clear as to what. i can do some&nbsp\\; prety good fabricating if i know what is needed.

Default RE: oil tank question

You are correct the main difference is the battery hold down.&nbsp\\; On the 58 to 64 tank it has two tabs for the battery hold down rods to attach to.&nbsp\\; On the Rigid models they attached directly to the rear fender.&nbsp\\; They made&nbsp\\;4 or 5 variations of oil tank for the Knuckle head.&nbsp\\; The 40 to 57 type is similar to the 58 to 64 style with the exception of the hold down tabs.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; You will also need the rear mount that attaches to the fender in place of the one that attaches to the swingarm mount.&nbsp\\;
