Anybody here live in southern Idaho? west-central Missouri? central Oklahoma? northwest Louisiana? southern nevada close to Vegas? or southern New Mexico? Those are the places I'm considering trying to move to and I'm wondering what the areas are like and what they're good for. Thanks.

My daughter lives in Mountain Home, ID (near the AFB). It is a quiet town, housing is reasonable, lots of good riding, hunting, fishing. Winters are mild but occasional snow.

Just curious. You're considering moving to one of those places but you don't know anything about them? How did you happen to choose them?
My guess is that he is in the military and that is where there are bases that he may be stationed.
Guess I'm spoiled but if he's going to live on base so that housing costs don't matter much, I'd be trying to get some better weather and/or less humidity. The only place on that list that I'd enjoy would be Idaho and even there the winters can be pretty cold.
If it's AF, Travis, Pendleton and Vandenburg come to mind. ??
I'm an hydraulic mechanic in the AF so vandenberg is out, don't know about pendleton, but to hell with Travis. I'm in Dover working on the POS C-5, I don't need to go somewhere else to do the same thing. lol. No, I'm trying to stay out of AMC and switch to ACC so that's how I picked those places above. Plus, I'm tired of throwing away my housing allowance to base housing so wherever I go it's house buying time. Actually, I'm now considering going Air Guard in Warner Robins GA. So many choices...
