On this day in 1968 my friend, Bob Kunkle, was on patrol when a claymore, captured and \\;reset \\;by the enemy, went off.
Fortunatly it was not set-up properly and just blew his leg
up. What a great man he is. He sacrifices allot to teach wounded Vets at Walter Reed and Brookes' to defend themselves. I have had the privelege of \\;putting together vests for the wounded veterans for a few years now and now I am going to do one for him. He will be the first Vietnam Vet I have done one for. What an honor it will be. I want to thank all of you who have sent me patches to help complete the vests I have been putting together for these young, wounded veterans at Walter Reed. \\; I had been pretty sick through the early part of this year and didn't get thank you cards out but I \\;managed to finish a couple of the vests. \\;These vests help keep the guys occupied. I throw on a few patches, gibe them the vest and \\;they get creative with the rest. Its pretty cool to see what some of the guys have done.

Hat's off to you Atrox. I salute all your doing. Would make me happy if i could send a modest donation to your efforts, let me know ok? \\;\\\\\\; Quick question, one of the last photos bottom left, with four or five standing fguys with the white name tags facing the camera with barracks behind them, where was that photo taken?

I was checking out your myspace account. When I noticed some of the vests, I called the wife over to look at them also. We started looking a little more and before we knew it, we had spent over 2 hours there looking at the pics and listening to the music. I showed her who you were and told her that you were the one that helped me with my vest. I played the \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;Amazing Grace song for her, because that was the one that a pipper played here for Travis. My wife and I want to thank you for \\;\\\\\\; your work and some time well spent tonite, I plan on going \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;back for some more. Thanks again for the work that you do.

Still feel bad that I wasn't called to VN.
Don't feel bad, not sure who said it (Shakespeare?) but it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. \\;Just being in then was enough, especially in those times when we were all called baby killers.

atrox, nice job [sm=americanasmiley.gif]
