Default engine light issue

Hello i'm new to the forum. I appolagize if i'm in the wrong section. I just bought an 03 wide glide with 4500 miles on it. Bike runs great as far as i can tell. But when i'm just cruising at low rpm the check engine light comes on.

I checked all the fluids, engine and tranny look good. The primary was a bit low. before i take it out again i am going to drain and fill all three just to be sure. Its a carburated motor, = checked the spark plugs they look good.

My question is, if the primary is low on oil, would that throw a code? If anyone has had similar issues or has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it. I would like to keep the bike on the road and out of the shop if possible.

No the low oil in the primary will not throw a code. The oil should be up to the bottom of the clutch hub. Not sure how to retreive the codes on your bike but it is probably throwing one. On my LR you push the spedo reset button to display any codes. Try that. Then let us know.

Hey thanks for the reply. I assumed that you would need some kind of fancy code reader to look it up. I've been thumbing through the owners manual for the past couple days, I must.have missed that part. As soon as i get home tonight i will look it up , and get back to ya. thanks again
