I recently installed a set of Vance &\\; Hines Oval Slip-Ons onto my 2008 Road King. \\; I also put a K&\\;N replacement filter into my stock air cleaner housing. \\; I have heard so many different do's &\\; don'ts. \\; Can someone give me the real poop?
 \\;
1) \\; The dealer says if you put Screaming Eagle slip ons with a K&\\;N, then no DLD tuner or DYNO required. \\; If you put V&\\;H Slip ons with K&\\;N, then DLD tuner &\\; DYNO required. \\;
 \\;
2) \\; A very respectable wrench in the area said he has never had any issues with the V&\\;H Slip ons and K&\\;N set-up.
 \\;
If I have to do the tuner &\\; DYNO, then fine. \\; I also heard it's a dice roll with the Power Commander. \\; What do you think about the V&\\;H Fuel Pack?
You can run any slip ons without changing anything. When you change your AC \\; you need to change the fuel to air ratio. Fuelpak is great for what you have , I have it and the bike runs flawlessly! \\; Costs less , no dyno time ect.

i have the screaming eagle slip ons and the K&\\;N replacement filter. \\; i called harley and they said no problem, leave it alone. \\; however, when i inspected my plugs they were lite tan going on white all over (as they were since i got the bike). i always felt it was running too lean. \\; i decided to do the harley download. \\; when i checked my plugs afterword they were tan on the insulator and dark everywhere else. it is running richer. \\; it also seems to be a bit perkier (spelling?). if for no other reason than to lessen the lean condition i would think you would want to do something. \\; good luck..

My biggest concern is with warranty. \\; Don't want to play the prove it game with them, as I would need to remove the Fuel Pack before any warranty work. \\; I have a 5000 mile service coming up, so I guess that will the make or break (wallet) time for me. \\; If nothing else, I will go with the DLD and DYNO, that way they can't say otherwise, beign as that is what they recommend.
 \\;
Thanks for the reponses...
Hd will install fuelpak for you. I did my pipes ,filter and FP myself before my 1000 mi and they said it was \\;ok . The bike ran great.
No warranty issues.

Unfortunately, this shop won't even deal with Power Commander. \\; They won't question the warranty because it is upon them to prove it cause danything, should anything happen, but they won't even diagnose. \\; Thay say, which I understand, they won't have a baseline to troubleshoot from. \\; Once it is DYNO run, they will have a record and all data necessary to do anything. \\; I know what the inevitable will be, just trying to see if I have any other options besides going the FUEL PACK, POWER COMMANDER or HD TUNER route.
 \\;
Bike rides fine to me, mild burping on decel, with no loud popping or backfiring. \\; Just want to be sure I don't do anything stupid.
Dude actually its like your running a stock filter with the stock housing, your fine I think. Most people are just trying to reduce heat and get some better sound. Your definetly not hurting anything. Not anymore than a stock bike thats runs over 320degress constantly. Thats what they gave us.

Slip ons and a Fuel Pak and a Big Sucker. Thats the only performance mods needed for the rest of the bikes life. Unless we run out of fuel! It will be a whole new ballgame when we switch to hydrogen!!

That's what I'm thinking. \\; If the Screaming Eagle Pipes with K&\\;N requires no DLD &\\; DYNO, I would think I don't. \\; Granted, the V&\\;H have less restrictions then the SE pipes, but the the Air Cleaner housing is stock with just a filter change. \\; The wrench I mentioned, told me that as long as I don't do any motor work, I shouldn't need the BIG Air Cleaner set up, and the filter in stock housing with V&\\;H slip ons should be fine.
 \\;
We'll see I guess.
 \\;
 \\;
Well....I broke down and bought the "Direct Load Device" to break the encryption code so they can re-map it. \\; It will go on the DYNO as well when I get my 5K mile service done.
 \\;
Paid too much for the bike to take short cuts now. \\; Frick It!
